The Hanumaa Protek Dry Powder System is an advanced fire suppression system designed for ships carrying liquefied gas and specific chemicals in bulk. This system is crucial for ensuring fire safety as per SOLAS IGC and IBC regulations. It employs dry chemical powder, primarily Sodium or Potassium Bicarbonate (BC), which is mixed with additives to enhance storage, flow, and water repellency.

The system effectively extinguishes fires by direct flame application, immediately cutting off the combustion process. It operates with nitrogen pressurization, ensuring a continuous and stable discharge through distribution manifolds, monitors, and hand hose lines. Release can be managed remotely from control boxes or manually at the dry powder unit. Key applications include coverage of entire deck areas, cargo manifolds, and connection points. The system’s design guarantees that dry powder can reach any cargo deck area from at least two sources, ensuring comprehensive fire protection. Regular maintenance and inspection are essential to maintain optimal performance. The dry powder must be stored in a dry, sealed condition to prevent moisture absorption and maintain its free-flowing characteristics.
